How does POLYAS ensure the availability of the servers?
Online elections conducted with POLYAS are by default hosted in data centers in the EU and in compliance with GDPR.
These are structured according to the TwinCore principle, i.e. the data is stored in parallel at two identical data centers. This ensures that, even in the event of a failure on one side, access to the data in the other data center continues without interruption, so guaranteeing permanent data availability.
A further option is to host voting projects using Self-Service on the Open Telekom Cloud (OTC) in Germany. The data center is structured as two identical hubs (TwinCore), so all data is stored in parallel. This ensures that, even in the event of a failure on one side, access to the data in the other data center continues without interruption, so guaranteeing permanent data availability (99.999 percent availability).
Individual voting projects that are managed using POLYAS Election Management are hosted on the OTC by default.
